Cryotherapy
Cryotherapy, also known as cold therapy, constricts local blood vessels and decreases tissue temperature. This constriction decreases blood flow and cell metabolism, which can limit hemorrhaging and cell death in an acute traumatic injury.
Use of gel packs to provide cryotherapy is a convenient, economical way to aid post-op healing. Patients undergoing a biopsy, a lumpectomy, breast surgery and/or a facial lift or procedure may benefit from use of cold therapy.
